We have bought our first flight tickets!

Can confirm - we have bought our flight tickets from London to Colombo then a following flight 15 days later from Colombo to Bangkok! Excited would be an understatement..
As a side note, we managed to save nearly £100 each when booking these tickets. When we first started looking we were searching travel agencies (such as STA Travel) and manage to find - what we thought to be - not badly priced tickets. We then starting looking on comparison sites like Skyscanner and Kayak and realised we could save more money by purchasing separate tickets with a stop over. (We are aware of the small print about booking via 2 separate airlines like this, there is no cover if the connecting flight is missed due to the first flight being delayed. This is a risk to be weighed up against the cost saving of the tickets, or alternatively, ensure there is a long layover between the connecting flights to allow for any delays.) This will extend the travel time and complexity of the journey, but hey, we get to tick off another place to say we've been there and save some money! Does it still count even though it's only a few hours in an airport?! Anyway, we have taken the risk and booked 2 separate tickets (4 flights in total!) which has saved us around £180.
In the end, our route to get from the UK to Sri Lanka is: London STN > Istanbul SAW (2 hours layover) Istanbul SAW > Bahrain BAH (2 and a half hours layover) Bahrain BAH > Dubai DXB (9 and a half hours layover) Dubai DXB > Colombo CMB. This is going to be a total travel time of 36 hours!
We'll probably splash out and spend a bit of this saved money on some higher class accommodation to relax in on our first night after a long day and a half of travelling..
