Next, we drove from Brisbane to the Gold Coast. On the way, we went to Cedar Creek Falls and the glow worm caves near Tambourine Mountain where we took a tour to learn more about the glow worms. It was a pretty quirky tour and actually very interesting! When we made it to the Gold Coast, we took a walk along the beach, staring up at the city beside us.

Venturing into the city, we spent ages in Ripleys Believe It Or Not Odditorium, a collection of weird and wonderful artefacts and interactive exhibits in Surfer's Paradise, before battling it out over a few games of crazy golf at Putt Putt Mermaid Beach.

The route between the Gold Coast and Sydney was made up of various stops. In Byron Bay we walked to the Easterly Point lookout and lighthouse, then drove to Yamba and watched the sunset on Pippi Beach.

We then drove to Sealy Lookout, then past the Big Banana to Coffs Harbour, had lunch in Attitude Burgers by the marina and walked across to Muttonbird Island.

Next, we went to see Old Bottlebutt, the oldest Red Bloodbark tree in the Southern Hemisphere, before visiting to Laurieton Lookout. In Nelson Bay we went to Gan Gan lookout, then hiked up to Tomaree headland and past the WW2 gun placements.

We also took a winery tour at Tyrell's in Hunter Valley and learnt about how different wines are made before getting to try some.

Finally, we made it to Sydney. We did the typical tourist route of walking around the city, through the botanical gardens to Mrs Macquaries Chair and saw the Opera House and Harbour Bridge.

On the way back, we made a wish at the Wishing Tree in the gardens, looked around Darling Harbour then drove for a quick stop at Bondi Beach. The next day we met Aarti (one of the crew we met in Cambodia and travelled most of Vietnam with) for brunch then went to Birkenhead Point Outlet Centre. It had suddenly got really cold at night so we were on a mission to find some warmer clothes! Armed with jeans and jumpers, we moved on to our next destination.
