We left the Cameron Highlands at 8.45 and arrived into Kuala Lumpur around 1pm. Once we'd figured out the rail system, we checked into our hostel and spent the afternoon visiting the Petronas Towers and the many shopping malls around the hostel. We couldn't help but compare KL to Bangkok and how much cleaner it was here! Once the sun had set we headed back to the Petronas Towers to see the them lit up at night.

The next day we walked through Chinatown and the Independence Square on the way to the national park where the bird park and butterfly garden are located. We ended up only visiting the butterfly garden but it was really good! A couple of the butterflies were really friendly. After this we walked around the rest of the park and saw some deer. We came back to the hostel and planned our accommodation and buses for the next few days, before going to the observation deck of the KL Tower to watch the sunset.

Accommodation: Sunshine Bedz, 2 nights, 61 then 93 RM per night for a double room.
This hostel was a great location for getting around Kuala Lumpur, the staff were really helpful and there was a free breakfast included of unlimited toast, jam and even chocolate spread! Our room was nice enough but we didn't realise that the hostel had changed their price on hostelworld so we'd actually booked the room at a discount price and ended up paying more for our second night - not a massive issue but the bed was really creaky so neither of us slept too well. 7/10.
