We arrived into Hoi An at 6am, and luckily were able to check into our hotel room right away. We also managed to get breakfast there, which was a huge buffet with various local and Western foods.

Hoi An old town is a UNESCO site - a well-preserved trading port from the 15th century, built with a fusion of Japanese, Chinese and European architectural design. Several of the houses and buildings there are open to the public, so we spent the morning wandering around a few of these, as well as the Japanese bridge.

The ticketing office only sells one type of ticket; entry to any of the buildings, but you can only choose five. We chose Phung Hung house, Tan Ky house, the Fijian Assembly Hall, the Cantonese Assembly hall, and the most memorable; the Art and Craft workshop, where we arrived just in time to see a display of music and dance.

Making the most of the weather and the pool at our hotel, we spent a lot of time in Hoi An sunbathing and reading, as well as walking around the town.

There were so many tailoring shops with beautiful dresses, shirts and suits for sale. We imagined if we were here on holiday we'd have bought quite a lot! Instead, we bought a bus ticket to Hue, the next part of our journey.
Accommodation: Memority Hotel and Villas, 2 nights, 520,000 VND per night for a private double room. This hotel was an incredible stay from as soon as we stepped inside. Despite it being 6.30am, we were able to check in and were given biscuits and tea. The room was spacious, and had a balcony overlooking the pool. Breakfast was included in the price and was possibly the best breakfast we've had so far - a buffet of noodles, rice, eggs, meats, bread, pancakes and fruit to name some! There was also fruit juice which we both made the most of. 9/10.
