We arrived in Siem Reap late in the evening due to our mini bus breaking down an hour away from our destination, but luckily another bus was sent out and we made it to our hostel in the end.
Our first full day in Siem Reap we spent walking around to get our bearings and booked a couple of tickets for Phare Circus. There were 3 ticket options varying in prices due to the area of seating so we went for the cheapest option (which were half the price of the next option) which had a warning of possible obstructions between you and the stage. As advised by our hostel receptionist, we arrived half an hour early and got good seats at the front. The show was spectacular and would highly recommend it! The acts ranged from juggling to acrobatics with a lot of hilarious theatre mixed in between.

On the way home we went via the night market and Pub Street where we were tempted to stop for a drink but decided against it; we were meeting James from home the next day (who’s route happens to perfectly match ours) so we’ll probably end up there then.
Once getting back to our hostel we got chatting to a couple of girls in our dorm who had arranged to visit the Angkor temples in the morning including sunrise at Angkor Wat. We made a bit of an impulse decision to head there for sunrise too seeing as we’ll probably be woken up anyway. We did not regret this decision!

During this tour we went to Angkor Wat for the sunrise, followed by Ta Prohm, Angkor Thom, The Terrace of Elephants and Bayon Temple.
James arrived that afternoon so we had a catch up and ended up in Pub Street as expected. A good catch up and a fun night!

The following day, not a lot happened. A nice, lazy day before heading to the night market for flip flops and sunglasses and then a pool day before catching a night bus to Sihanoukville.
Accommodation:
The Mekong Hostel, 4 nights, $3.50 per night for a dorm bed.
This hostel used to be a hotel, so the rooms and service are of an incredibly high standard. There was even a pool and the food was really good and reasonably priced. Breakfast wasn't included but you could get a full English for $3! It had a really nice atmosphere - although there were families staying at the hostel, there were plenty of other backpackers relaxing by the pool during the day and sitting in the bar area with a drink in the evening. Although all the hostels in Siem Reap seemed of a similar standard, we would stay here again. 9/10.
