Our flight landed in the morning after a night of broken sleep between two flights. We checked into Trica Hostel which was clean and quiet for us to relax and get a good night's sleep before we headed to Bodega Hostel in the morning of Day 2 for the rest of our stay. We arrived before the official check in time so we left our bags in their storage and walked to Terminal 21, which is a large shopping mall with 9 floors.

Each floor has a theme of a different country around the world such as Rome, Paris, Tokyo, London and Istanbul. The shops were slightly more expensive than we were expecting, but then it was a large 9 floor shopping mall not a small local night market. The sale racks outside of each shop were our target, hoping to find some good deals. After a bit of shopping we arrived onto the top floors which were filled with different restaurants. Our eyes were caught by Kono Pizza - they were selling pizzas, in a cone!

Day 3 was a long lie in followed by eating and drinking water due to the night before involving a few drinking games and a mix of drinks. Day 4 was a similar story but we headed out to Lumpini Park via Benchakitti Park. Lumpini was full of people jogging and at 5pm it seemed like all of the locals who weren’t jogging stopped what they were doing and started in a mass aerobics session, then at 6pm a song was played over speakers and everyone (joggers and all) stopped and stood in silence; very confusing at the time but we realised afterwards it was a song to honour the king and everyone stopped to show respect - when in Rome...

We then had our first experience of a night market at Patpong where we had to haggle very confidently as the first price they quote was extortionately overpriced. We came away with a new dress and top for Julie (dress was haggled down from 1200 baht to 300 baht to give an idea of the original price quotes!). Day 4 was full of temples - Wat Pho, Wat Arun, Temple of the Emerald Buddha and the Grand Royal Palace. Sadly we were unable to climb Wat Arun which was a shame but we had good views of it, rather than from it.

After getting back to the hostel, having some food and chatting with some of the guys there, we grouped up and headed to Rot Fi Train Night Market Ratchada, which turned into more of a light drinking session rather than any souvenir purchasing but it was a good night with no hangover in the morning!

In our final full day in Bangkok, we went to Chatuchak Weekend Market where we could buy nearly anything - food, clothes, souvenirs or even plants, or a pet?! Best market that we went to by far, no haggling needed as everything was not only priced, but priced fairly! After checking out of Bodega in the morning we had a chill day of planning our next leg of our trip! Long story short, we’re heading in reverse to our original plan, so instead of heading to Siem Reap, Cambodia, we boarded a flight to Chiang Mai in the north of Thailand.
