After a peaceful night in the tent house we were presented with a huge traditional Sri Lankan breakfast. This set us up nicely for the climb up Pidurangala.

We decided to climb this one and not Lion's Rock as there were far less people, it gave us chance to get stunning photos of Lion's Rock, and it was a fraction of the price - 500rs compared to the 5000rs each that Lion's Rock would have been. There was a temple at the foot of Pidurangala so we had to make sure our shoulders and knees were covered as we went past, but after this we were able to climb comfortably. The path to the top of the rock consisted of steps up to the 'Sleeping Buddha', as pictured below, then piles of rocks which required climbing on all fours to get up them.

After a scramble to the top of the rock, we weren't disappointed; the views were stunning from every angle, and we could see Lion's Rock.

We spent an hour or so enjoying the sights at the top before making our way back down, not forgetting to cover up as we passed the temples again. On the way back to our tent house, we had some lunch in a local cafe where we saw a couple ride past on the back of an elephant.

We got back to the tent house and picked up our bags, before catching the bus back to Dambula then a second to Kandy. We were quite excited to get back to Kandy as we had managed to find a nice hotel room on a last minute deal - £40 down to £13! After a long tuk tuk ride up the hills, and taking several wrong turns, we finally found our hotel - and we weren't disappointed. A comfy bed, a hot shower and a dinner of noodles; we were settled for the night.
