The alarm went at 2am so we could get climb Adam's Peak to watch the sunrise.
The mountain has a 6km pathway consisting of steep steps. There are several rest stops along the way selling food and drinks, but as we went a few weeks before pilgrimage season begins, the majority of these were still closed. We reached the last shop in about 2 hours, and were told by the man there that it was only 100m left to the top, so we got some water (surprising cheap at only 160rs for the top of a mountain) and waited for a bit because we still had a while until the sunrise. When we reached the top it was so cloudy we could only really see the sky getting slowly lighter. However, a few meters down from the summit we were below the cloud bank and the views were incredible.

The walk back took over an hour and a half too, due to the slippery steps in the rain and stopping to take photos of the area and the mountain that we had just climbed.

When we got back we had a great breakfast of rotti, curry and some tea from the Singh Brothers, then rested for a couple of hours before we had to leave.
We then got a tuk tuk back to Hatton to save waiting for two different buses, and the journey only cost us 1500rs for the 45 minute ride. Our tuktuk driver was really friendly and stopped several times going around the lake so we could take photos.

He also recommended that we get the train rather than the bus from Hatton to Kandy, our next destination, as it's quicker, quieter and it's a scenic route. Unfortunately due to the early start, we slept through most of the 2 hour train ride, but what we saw at the start was pretty!
We took a tuktuk again from Kandy station to our hostel - Kandy City Monkey - as the roads were incredibly busy, checked in and headed out again for some food.
After a walk down the main road, and up around some back streets we found a restaurant called the Tandoori Point which served a delicious masala. Probably the hottest paneer masala and chicken tikka we’ve ever had though!
